In Texas our leaders,
and our wannabe be leaders
and all their allies are spending
millions, if not billions of dollars
(dollars that could be spent
on feeding the hungry,
curing the sick, educating
our kids, and who knows
what else), to point fingers
and wallow in the mud
while trying to convince
us that “I’m not a pedophile,
he’s a pedophile,” discourse
that echoes taunts found
on every underfunded Texan
primary school playground.
When it all ends, and the winners
take their seats, it’s a wonder
that they will wonder why no one
seems to trust anything they say.
