The Strangest Fire, Moonstone Arts Center (2026)
In this collection, The Strangest Fire, Vincent Hostak employs the sacred language of poetry and storytelling to investigate inter-species survival during a time when all are at risk. Within these poems, landforms, flora, insects, waterways, a fisherman, and even a volcano have an opportunity to share their personal histories. Not all that they have to say are dreadful warnings. They have much to tell us about living justly, compassionately, cooperatively, and with good humor in the present moment.
Hostak’s poems have been featured in literary journals including Sonder Midwest, The Dewdrop, The Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, TPA Quarterly and the anthologies: Lone Star Poetry-Championing Texas Verse, Community, and Hunger Relief (Kallisto Gaia Press, Austin) & The Senior Class: 100 Poets on Aging (Lamar University Literary Press); and the 30th Annual Poetry Ink Anthology from Moonstone Press.
Several poems in this collection first appeared in Texas Poetry Assignment.
